I opposed this bill, along with colleagues from both sides of the aisle, because it is a radical federal overreach that bans books, attacks LGBTQ+ students, and overrides decision-making by locally elected school boards 2/

Yesterday, far-right Republicans passed H.R.5, a dangerous and divisive bill that puts politics ahead of parents (and kids!) across the country. Even my Republican colleague, who originally co-sponsored the bill, agreed it “went too far” and would put vulnerable kids at risk. 1/
