When I graduated from West Point in May of 2004, I took an oath to protect our Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. For much of our lives, the greatest threats have come from overseas, but now I believe the greatest threat to our Democracy is in the White House. Now, with so many destructive policies coming from the Trump administration, local government is one of our most important lines of defense.

As County Executive, I will take an active role in opposing Trump administration policies which threaten Ulster County residents:

• Oppose any coordination between our county and local law enforcement and ICE, and stand in solidarity with our immigrant communities.
• Oppose the regulatory rollback of critical environmental protections, and block future dirty energy production that would pollute our county.
• Oppose cuts to critical social services programs such as SNAP, low-income housing assistance, mental health services, and veterans services.
